Photovoltaics attracts a large number of recurring public questions — about land use, materials, carbon payback, intermittency, recycling — that deserve answers grounded in the literature rather than in position-taking. This collective CNRS document, written with researchers from across the French photovoltaic community, sets out the reality, the potential and the genuine difficulties of photovoltaic solar energy in France.

The report has been updated and enriched across successive versions and is freely available.
